What Matters Most? The Power of Love & Light in Leadership and Life

March 10, 20253 min read

A man lies on his bed, deep in thought, staring blankly into the distance. His expression appears contemplative, as if lost in memories or future plans. The dim lighting and soft shadows add to the introspective mood, evoking a sense of reflection or longing.

Listen up, my fellow emerging leaders…

Last week was CRAZZZZZZZY. (And I used all those Z’s because, honestly, that’s what I’ve been missing—sleep!) 😅

Between family situations, hospital visits, growing pains in my business, and making sure I stay in compassion instead of consumption, I’ve been riding waves that could have easily pulled me under.

Oh, and let’s not forget—I’m in the middle of finishing my latest book, "Heaven & Earth: Vibing High in the Midst of Lowness." Talk about divine timing.

But through it all, I had to pause. I had to breathe. And I had to ask myself a question that changed everything:

Christian F. Johnson… in this moment, what matters most?

The Inner Shift: From Seeking to Being

A triptych of a Black woman in different emotional states—conversing with a man, sitting alone in deep thought, and facing away in reflection. Warm, moody lighting highlights themes of introspection, tension, and growth.

That question led me straight to Zoe, a character in Heaven & Earth.

Zoe had journeyed through revelations, divine encounters, and moments that shattered old beliefs. She had seen beyond the veil. Yet… something still felt incomplete.

She wasn’t high. She wasn’t low. She was neutral.

Not unsettled. Not comforted. Just present.

So, she turned inward—deeper than she ever had before.

She replayed past experiences:

💭 A conversation where she wanted someone to see Christ beyond religion—but had she allowed them to unfold at their own pace?

💭 A meeting where she called out a lack of awareness—but had she created space for true transformation?

💭 A moment when her family was caught in blame, fear, and grief—had she seen their pain, or just their reaction?

Then came her final question, the one that broke everything open:

“God… what matters most?”

Love and Light: The Only Real Leadership Strategy

A diverse group of confident professionals in suits stand together in a futuristic setting, illuminated by glowing heart-shaped lights on their chests. The warm lighting and radiant hearts symbolize purpose, unity, and inner strength.

And then… the answer came. Not in words, but in knowing.

👉 Love and Light.

“To stay in love and light, you must let this mind be in you—the mind of Christ.”

(And if the word ‘Christ’ feels specific, here’s what I mean: I’m speaking of the pure expression of God in the earth—an awareness beyond lack, fear, offense, and judgment. It is presence, love, light, and isness. It is abundance, peace, and power. It is the fullness of what already is.)

Not the mind that forces. Not the mind that controls. Not the mind that judges.

But the mind that simply IS.

Zoe saw it clearly: ✨ Light does not look for darkness—it simply shines. ✨ Love does not demand—it simply gives. ✨ Peace is not something we chase—it is something we embody.

And just like that… she let go.

🚫 No more judgment.

🚫 No more attachment.

🚫 No more trying to make others “see” what she saw.

Just love. Just light. Just being.

And she realized: This is what matters most.

Your Leadership, Your Life: A Reflection

A man in a suit stands before a large, glowing oval mirror, gazing at his reflection. In the mirror, his chest radiates a bright, golden light. The elegant room has warm lighting, modern decor, and a serene atmosphere, symbolizing self-discovery and inner radiance.

How often do we, as leaders, unintentionally force our version of transformation onto others?

💡 Are we truly allowing others to unfold in their own way?

💡 Are we seeing beyond their reaction, into their fear, their grief, their humanity?

💡 Are we shining our light, or trying to control how others receive it?

This week, I invite you to pause. To breathe. To let go.

A minimalistic room with sunlight casting soft shadows on a white wall. Words "Pause," "Breathe," and "Let go" are placed along the light, creating a calming and meditative atmosphere. The scene evokes a sense of peace, mindfulness, and reflection.

What if your only job was to Illuminate? To love without force? To lead without control?

Because love never fails. And light always shines.

So tell me… What matters most to you right now? Drop a comment below—I’d love to hear your thoughts. ⬇️

May good, great, and awesomeness continue to flow to and through you this week.
